The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute (HCI) was first established by Professor Derek Yellon as a basic and clinical Cardiovascular Research facility at University College London in 1990 and has today become one of the leading cardiovascular translational research centres in the world.
The HCI, through its research activity, contributes to the greater understanding of cardiovascular disease with the ultimate aim of generating new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of ischaemic heart disease. Within this framework we undertake basic and clinical cardiovascular research at the very highest level, train clinical and basic scientists, and strive to improve the treatment options available to patients with ischaemic heart disease.
